Waymo expands service in San Diego to include La Jolla, University City and Clairemont
The automated rideshare service Waymo is expanding its service in San Diego to include La Jolla, the company announced Tuesday.
The service has now nearly doubled to about 90 square miles, expanding to include Clairemont, University City, and La Jolla.

The autonomous vehicles first launched in San Diego in September. At the time, the service covered 50 square miles, spanning from Logan Heights to Pacific Beach and from Sunset Cliffs to Normal Heights.
At launch, residents were receiving invitations to ride in the vehicles on a rolling basis. Starting Oct. 14 anyone who downloads the app can request a Waymo ride in these areas.
