Woman found dead in house days after it burned, Hitchcock PD says

HITCHCOCK, Texas (KTRK) -- An investigation is underway after a woman was found dead inside a home that was burned down days prior, according to the Hitchcock Police Department.

According to police, officers went to a home in the 4400 block of N. Railroad Avenue regarding a call about an unresponsive woman on Wednesday morning. Hours later, Hitchcock PD detectives said they identified the woman as 46-year-old Brandi Gregg.

Police said the home at the location burned down over the weekend. However, there was a search after the fire, and there was no indication the body was there at the time of the blaze; it was found by police to be suspicious circumstances.

No arrests have been made, and details are unclear about what led up to the woman's death, police said.
