Suspect in custody after Arlington lockdown

ARLINGTON, Tenn. (WMC) - Parents waited hours to pick up their children after a lockdown at schools in Arlington.

The lockdown stemmed from Shelby County Sheriff’s Office searching for an armed man in the area of Arlington Elementary School.

Dismissal procedures for Arlington Elementary and Arlington High were delayed for hours.

Arlington Mayor Mike Wissman says the suspect is now in custody.
