New Mexico early voting eclipses 300K ballots cast
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — With less than a week until votes are tallied in midterm elections in the U.S., more than 300,000 ballots have been cast in New Mexico.
A total of 316,642 New Mexico voters have submitted their ballots ahead of Election Day, according to the New Mexico Secretary of State’s Office on Wednesday morning. That’s around 21% of all registered voters in the state.
This is an uptick in early voting this year. New Mexico’s totals surpassed 2022 numbers on Saturday. Although, there are more registered voters in the state now than four years ago.
The ballot contains the races for governor, lieutenant governor, attorney general, secretary of state, a U.S. Senate seat and every U.S. and New Mexico House seat. There are also four constitutional amendments plus more local questions, like bonds and county sheriff.
Early voting ends this Saturday. You can register to vote the same day. However, you’ll need an acceptable form of ID to register for the first time.
Early voting sites in Bernalillo County open at 10 a.m. Polls will be open statewide Election Day from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
