Final beam placed on new St. Charles City Hall
ST. CHARLES, Mo. (First Alert 4) - The final steel beam was placed on top of the new St. Charles City Hall on Wednesday, completing the framework for the building.
Topping off ceremony
A topping off ceremony was held Wednesday for the new city hall. The building will be the cornerstone of the new City Centre complex at Main and Clark, near the Foundry Art Center.
What the complex will include
The project also will include a rec center, a senior center and a farmers market.
Leaders said the project is intended to create a more walkable district in St. Charles by better connecting historic Main Street, Frenchtown and the riverfront.
Mayor: project joins Main and Second streets
Mayor Dan Borgmeyer said the new city hall is almost all glass.
“So, this is kind of the transition between who we were, who we are now, and who will be in the future,” Borgmeyer said.
Borgmeyer said Main Street and Second Street have always been separate and the construction project joins them together.
“So, now, our business system will be almost five miles long,” he said.
Opening dates
The new city hall and a large parking garage are expected to open next August. The rec center and senior center are expected to open in December 2027.
