“The FBI received a tip, and they contacted the Cherokee County School Police, and they contacted us and made us aware of the incident,” said Canton Police spokesman Officer Pacer Cordry.
Canton police detectives worked to identify suspects. The juvenile, who has not been named, was arrested on Oct. 20.
Several days later, investigators arrested Shane Keith Taylor, 19, of Metter, Georgia. In addition, Michael Brandon Terry, 21, of Chatsworth, California was taken into custody.
“During the process of the investigation and serving the warrants, detectives seized weapons, ammunition and electronic devices which they took in for evidence. We believe all have ties to the alleged shooting plot,” said Officer Cordry.

Cherokee County School District Superintendent Dr. Mary Elizabeth Davis posted a video praising law enforcement officers for preventing a planned armed assault on the school.
“I come to you tonight, not only as a superintendent, but also as a mom. And the mere thought of a school threat, let alone hearing of a conspiracy to carry one out, is honestly devastating. What I do know is CCSD is a district of safe schools. Not only is there no known threat to Cherokee High School, but there’s also no known threats to any CCSD school,” said Dr. Davis.
Parents were relieved to learn that the alleged school shooting plan was disrupted.
“It’s terrifying having a child myself. Just kind of makes me afraid for when he gets older and goes to school. It’s scary to think of my mom, being a teacher. She’s not safe either,” said parent Olivia Gaye.
All three suspects are charged with conspiracy to commit murder.
