Woman shot Tuesday in Metairie sought protective order against former dating partner, records show
METAIRIE, La. (WVUE) - The 23-year-old woman critically wounded Tuesday (Oct. 28) when shot by a former dating partner from Lafayette had sought a protective order against the man in July, court records show.
Fox 8 is not identifying the woman, who filed the petition July 22 in a Jefferson Parish court. The victim alleged she had been choked and threatened by Ahmad Alexander Rochon.
Rochon, a 27-year-old from Lafayette, was identified Wednesday by the Jefferson Parish Coroner as the man authorities said shot the woman outside an office building at 110 Veterans Memorial Blvd., before taking his own life minutes later after driving to Oaklawn Drive and Toulouse Street.
In the court petition, the woman described being attacked by Rochon as recently as May 30, 2026. The petition listed Rochon’s address in Copperas Cove, a Central Texas town near Killeen.
“The defendant held me down and choked me until I nearly passed out, then slammed the door on my hand when I began running toward the door to leave, resulting in a fractured finger,” she wrote. “I needed about eight stitches for my middle finger on my left hand and was unable to do my work duties properly.”
The woman expressed ongoing fear of Rochon and detailed continued instances of harassment and threatening behavior.
“Since then, the defendant has been calling me from random numbers and contacting me on any app he can find me on. He has threatened me, stating, ‘Like Ion (sic) know where you work or live’ and ‘I will get what I want.’
“He has also took screenshots from my friends’ social medias to send me, notifying he is watching me, and stated, ‘You need to do something about me before I get there. Something’s gonna happen soon.”
According to court records, the protective order was preliminarily granted, but hearings on the petition scheduled in August and October were continued, postponed to new dates because Rochon had not been served with legal documents. Another hearing date was coming up Dec. 8, and a minutes entry from a court clerk said the court had advised the woman “to seek legal assistance regarding proper service” to Rochon.
The woman’s mother declined to comment Wednesday when contacted by Fox 8.
In her petition, the woman listed her employer’s address as the building she was shot outside of on Tuesday.
In her protection order request, the woman also checked boxes describing Rochon as a “current or former dating partner,” indicated that the domestic abuse had occurred in Jefferson Parish and had “happened more often over the past year,” and that Rochon had “threatened/attempted suicide” previously.
