Dry stretch remains through Friday, rain chances return for Halloween
NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - Our dry stretch will continue through Friday. Rain chances return Saturday for Halloween lasting into midday Sunday.
Drought conditions, dry brush and low humidity keep the fire danger elevated through at least Thursday.
With some breezy conditions moving in, we will see some minor tide rises.
A coastal flood advisory is in effect for Hancock County from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. Thursday. Other parishes and counties could be added over the next few nights.
Water levels should stay under a foot over normally dry ground, with the highest tides coming overnight.
Changes are on the way by the end of the week. A system develops over Texas, and winds shift from east to southeast as moisture surges back in.
That means clouds build Friday, with rain and a few storms arriving by Saturday for trick or treaters.
Next rain chance arrives on Saturday for Halloween. Coverage 50-60%. Spotty showers with dry times in-between. Plan for some showers to be on the safe side. High 80° lows in the 60s. Sunday rain tapers off midday as we stay on the warmer side. pic.twitter.com/VktrZRpsRu

Rain moves out midday Sunday and Monday trends drier. Then a stronger system aims at the region early next week, with a cold front possible by Tuesday arriving for election day.
Timing and rainfall totals are still uncertain. Temperatures stay a few degrees above average until the front arrives.
