Lower rain chance, cooler temperatures for the weekend: Charlotte forecast
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - An unusually warm and dry stretch of weather will persist into Halloween weekend.
Unseasonably warm
Temperatures Thursday started off warmer, thanks to a layer of clouds in the upper levels of the atmosphere. Those clouds won’t do much to slow down the warm-up though, with highs reaching the mid 70s in the afternoon.
The warmest day this week will be Friday, when the high in Charlotte will reach just above 80 degrees. While that is a dozen degrees above average, it falls short of the daily record of 84 degrees.
Calm Halloween weekend
Clouds will increase on Saturday, although the trick-or-treat forecast still looks dry and mild. Temperatures will be in the low 70s before sunset, steadily cooling into the 60s later in the evening.
Cooler temperatures remain in the forecast Sunday and Monday, but the rain chances have significantly diminished.
Measurable rain is unlikely on Sunday, just a few sprinkles here and there. A few showers on Monday and Tuesday won’t amount to much either, with rain chances only around 20%.
Long-range pattern shift
The long-range outlooks point to an unsettled pattern setting up later next week and farther into November. The first round of rain should arrive Wednesday night into Thursday. That storm system looks much more impressive, so our confidence is higher that the rain will hold together as it approaches.
Forecast at a glance
- Through Friday: Plenty of sunshine, warm
- Saturday: More clouds, still mild and dry
- Sunday and Monday: Not as warm, mostly dry
