Water main break leaves gaping hole in road, disrupts traffic in Davie

A water main break in Davie left a gaping hole in the roadway and disrupted traffic in the overnight hours and on Thursday morning.

Davie police told drivers at around 1 a.m. to avoid South Pine Island Road from Southwest 30th Street to Southwest 36th Street due to a collapsed roadway from a water main break.

The northbound lanes of South Pine Island Road were shut down.

Aerial images appear to show cones and tape sectioning off the hole in the street.
