Woman killed in domestic dispute, man charged with murder
ST. CLAIR, Mo. (First Alert 4) - A man has been charged with second-degree murder after a woman died during a domestic dispute Monday according to police.
St. Clair Police Department stated that on Monday afternoon, at around 1:15 p.m., officers responded to Highway 47 near Miller Drive for someone lying on the road.
At the scene, officers found a woman who seemed to have been hit by a car. The woman was taken to an area hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.
Detectives responded to the scene and determined she was not hit by a car. During the investigation, police determined she was in a domestic dispute outside the city limits in Franklin County.
Evidence was found that indicated the woman was hanging onto the door on the passenger side of a car, fell off and was injured. The driver of the car left the scene and later turned himself in to the St. Clair County Police.
On Tuesday, the warrant application was completed and Bryan E. Thrower was charged with second-degree murder. Court documents say the victim climbed onto the passenger side during an argument as Thrower was leaving a property. Documents say Thrower drove the vehicle in an erratic way, despite the victim’s presence on the vehicle.
Documents say Thrower denied knowing that the victim was still on the vehicle when she was and he said he did not know she fell.
The woman’s name has not been released.
