25 state prisons on lockdown due to ‘increased security threat’
The Georgia Department of Corrections says more than two dozen state prisons have been put on lockdown.
The department said the lockdowns started on Wednesday.
GDOC said the prisons were locked down due to what it called an “increased Security Threat Group (STG) activity.”
Due to this increased threat, the facilities are staying on lockdown until further notice as GDOC performs security threat assessments and conducts investigations.
