Houston City Council Considering new landmark locations

Houston City Council is considering eleven locations for landmarks or protected landmark status.

Council could vote on the properties within the next couple of weeks.

The proposed locations include two churches, several houses, and the First National Bank on Main Street downtown.

• Trinity United Methodist Church at 2600 Holman Street
• Berean Seventh-Day Adventist Church at 2119 St. Emmanuel
• Eight homes
• First City National Bank at 1021 Main Street

If approved, the protected landmark locations would be eligible for historic tax exemption, reduced parking requirements, and protection from demolition.
