2 men shot, including suspect, in 2 shootings on Minnesota Avenue

Two men were shot in two shootings in D.C. early Thursday morning and both shootings involve the same suspect, according to D.C. police.

At about 5 a.m., police responded to the 4100 block of Minnesota Avenue Northeast to the report of a man with a gunshot wound.

The man was found at a bus stop where another man shot him and fled the scene. The man who was shot was taken to a nearby hospital. At about 5:19 a.m., police received another call about a man firing a gun in a parking lot.

When police arrived at the 3900 block Minnesota Avenue, they found a man waving a gun around. As officers exited their vehicles, he shot at another person leaving a nearby store, according to police.

Then. an officer shot him, according to police. Police say the gun was recovered from the scene.

According to police, the man who was shot by the police officer was the same person who shot the man at the bus stop. He was also taken to a nearby hospital and will be charged in both cases.

Interim Police Chief Jeffery Carroll said both men are in critical condition. D.C. police are investigating both shootings. It is unclear if the suspect knew any of the people he shot at or if it was a random act.
