“The FBI received a tip, and they contacted the Cherokee County School Police, and they contacted us and made us aware of the incident,” Canton Police spokesman Officer Pacer Cordry told Channel 2’s Tom Regan.
The warrants filed in Cherokee County accused the suspects of obtaining Cherokee High School floor plans and picked Aug. 20, 2027 as the date to carry out the shooting. That would have been weeks into the 2027-28 school year.
Cordry said detectives found weapons, ammunition and electronic devices that they believe “all have ties to the alleged shooting plot.”
Police arrested the juvenile on Oct. 20. Taylor and Terry were arrested days later. Taylor is currently in the Cherokee County detention center while Terry is waiting for extradition from California to Georgia.
