Students attending St. Luke’s College in Sioux City next fall will not see their tuition increase, its overseeing university has announced.

Morningside University, also in Sioux City, stated in a news release Wednesday tuition for the health sciences college will not increase for the 2027-2028 academic year. According to St. Luke’s College’s website, tuition for bachelor’s degree programs sits at $620 per credit hour and associate degree tuition is $555 per credit hour, with varying costs for certificate and internship programs.

Morningside University President Chad Benson said in the release this decision “reflects Morningside’s effort to balance access, quality and growth.”

“We have an opportunity to expand exceptional healthcare education, prepare more professionals for our region, and remain disciplined about what we ask students to pay. Holding tuition flat is a tangible demonstration of that commitment,” Benson said in the release.

Morningside began the process of acquiring St. Luke’s College in summer 2025, and the college has been operating as a division of Morningside since January with the goal of a full combination by the end of 2026.

According to the release, freezing St. Luke’s tuition reinforces Morningside’s “commitment to affordable healthcare education and Siouxland’s workforce needs” and represents one step in the institution’s continuing work in expanding opportunities and strengthening technology, programs and people.

“There is no substitute for learning in real clinical environments,” said St. Luke’s College Dean and Morningside nursing school director Jackie Barber in the release. “Our students gain extensive hands-on experience alongside healthcare professionals, building the confidence and clinical judgment they need to enter their careers ready to contribute.”
