Emergency repairs shut down ferry service early
On Thursday afternoon, the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) announced an early end of service for the Mukilteo/Clinton ferry route.
Washington State Ferries Deputy Director of External Relations Dana Warr explained that repairs are needed to the apron, which is at the end of the transfer span that vehicles drive over when loading and offloading from the vessel.
“Our maintenance crews from Eagle Harbor Maintenance Facility will be removing a damaged part tonight from the Mukilteo side, which will impact those late-night sailings we have already alerted our customers to,” Warr told KIRO Newsradio in a statement. “We expect the first sailings from Clinton and Mukilteo to depart as scheduled but will send rider alerts if there are any delays or cancellations.”
The damage was done to the hydraulic system, which needs to be taken to the Eagle Harbor facilities for repair.
The last sailings Thursday will be:
- 10:30 p.m. Clinton to Mukilteo.
- 11 p.m. Mukilteo to Clinton.
Cancelled sailings on Thursday are:
- 11:30 p.m. Clinton to Mukilteo.
- 12:05 a.m. Mukilteo to Clinton.
- 12:35 a.m. Clinton to Mukilteo.
- 1:05 a.m. Mukilteo to Clinton.
