West Memphis cuts ribbon on new animal shelter

WEST MEMPHIS, Ark. (WMC) - West Memphis opened a new $2.3 million animal shelter on Wednesday with the help of Southland Casino Hotel.

Southland donated $1.7 million to fund construction.

The new shelter was built at the site of the former Mid-South Greyhound Adoption Center behind the casino in West Memphis.

The facility is named in honor of the late chairman emeritus of the Southland board of directors, Ness Sechrest, and his wife.
