Trading card shops allegedly burglarized, NOPD and JPSO investigating
NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - An alleged multi-parish string of trading card store burglaries is now being investigated by multiple law enforcement agencies.
The New Orleans Police Department (NOPD) and Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office (JPSO) confirmed they are investigating alleged burglaries in their respective parishes.
The NOPD confirmed it is investigating two alleged burglaries on the 700 block of Dublin Street, the home of Media on Maple, on Sept. 6 and Oct. 14.
The NOPD confirmed cash, a cash register and trading cards were reportedly stolen.
Store ownership declined to comment, but posted on social media that the store would be closed for repairs.
The JPSO confirmed it is investigating an Oct. 18 burglary at Coliseum Card Company in Metairie.
Co-owner Chris Barrois provided Fox 8 video of the incident.
“It just makes me sick. You know, I felt so violated when I first saw the video,” he said.
He said the alleged burglar stole $7,000 in cash, $3,000 in unopened trading cards, and inflicted $700 worth of damage on a glass door.
“I mean, my employee missed him by seven minutes. So we’re just thankful that it wasn’t as bad as it could have been,” he said.
He said he wanted to get the word out about the string of incidents.
“We’re all just one big community, so everybody needs to be aware of it,” he said.
