‘Call it 911 pizza': Florida deputies complete food delivery after driver's car crash

A Florida customer got a surprise when deputies showed up at his door carrying a pizza after the delivery driver was involved in a crash.

The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office shared the heartwarming moment, posting dashcam footage showing deputies hand-delivering a pizza after responding to the accident.

“Cold pizza? Not on our watch,” the sheriff’s office wrote on Facebook. “When deputies were assisting with a vehicle crash, one of the drivers relayed that they were in the middle of making a pizza delivery. With the address close and knowing how disappointing it is when your order is late, deputies couldn’t help but rectify the situation.”

In the video, a deputy approaches the customer’s home carrying the pizza and asks, “You waiting on a pizza delivery?”

“Yes, sir,” the customer responds, explaining that Rizzoli’s had called to let him know the driver had arrived.

The customer then tells the deputy he didn’t want to interrupt officers while they handled the crash.

“I didn’t want to disturb you guys,” he says.

After handing over the order, the deputy replies, “There ya go, bud. Enjoy your pizza.”

The surprised customer thanked the officer several times.

“Hey, I definitely appreciate it,” he says.

The interaction drew praise online, with commenters applauding the deputies for going the extra mile to make sure the meal wasn’t ruined by an unexpected accident.

“Those are the real heroes. Making sure no matter what, people are getting their stuff done and the pizzas are still hot and fresh! But seriously… major kudos to the officer, because that was above and beyond their normal call of duty,” one user wrote.

Another commenter joked, “Call it 911 pizza.”

While pizza delivery may not typically fall within a deputy’s job description, the officers’ quick thinking ensured the order reached its destination and gave one customer a story he likely won’t forget anytime soon.
