Former SMU head coach June Jones dies at 73
Former SMU head coach June Jones has died. He was 73.
Run & Shoot Certification, a coaching clinic Jones was involved in with Mouse Davis, made the announcement Thursday on social media.
“June’s greatest legacy wasn’t the records, championships, or the offense. It was the people he believed in, the opportunities he gave, and the lives he forever changed,” the statement said.
“He made everyone around him feel valued, and his kindness and generosity and passion for Christ will never be forgotten.”
Jones spent parts of seven seasons at SMU from 2008-14 after a successful tenure at Hawaii.
