Ambulance crashes into NYPD-sponsored ‘trunk-or-treat' event in Brooklyn, injuring 6
An ambulance crashed into a Brooklyn “trunk-or-treat” event sponsored by the NYPD, leaving six people injured, according to officials.
The crash occurred just before 4 p.m. Thursday at the corner of Knickerbocker Avenue and Bleecker Street in Bushwick, police said.
Six people were hurt and taken to nearby hospitals, but all were expected to survive, according to law enforcement sources. Three children — an 8-year-old boy and two girls, ages 6 and 12 — were among the injured, along with three women.
It was not immediately clear what caused and led up to the crash, though a person of interest was taken into custody at the scene and was being tested for drugs and alcohol, a law enforcement source told NBC New York.
An investigation was ongoing.
