A kiss sparked car assault of ex-girlfriend outside Arnold’s Lounge on Saturday, police said

The man who used his car to assault his ex-girlfriend outside Arnold’s Lounge on Saturday became enraged after seeing her kiss another man, police said.

Gage Froeber, 21, who is facing felony assault with a deadly weapon and other charges, rammed his car into the man’s car, backed up, and did it again.

The second collision pinned the woman against Arnold’s, sent her to the hospital, damaged the building, and caused a gas leak at the popular venue, according to an arrest report from the St. Augustine Police Department.

On Sunday night, a post on Arnold’s Lounge’s Facebook page described the relationship between the man and the woman as involving the man’s ex-girlfriend.

“A man was driving around the building ... trying to track his ex-girlfriend down,” the post said. “He found her in the parking lot and that is when everything went downhill from there.”

Police said Froeber drove his car into the other man’s car’s passenger-side door where he had been standing with the woman.

The impact knocked the woman to the ground. The other man helped her up, and she ran to the front of the vehicle, police said.

Police said Froeber backed up, and rammed the back of the victim’s car. The impact pushed the victim’s car into the woman, pinning her against the building, damaging the building, and causing the gas leak.

Froeber got out of his car, and attempted to fight, but police arrived a short time later.
