Temple Update receives first Murrow Award

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Temple Update provides a platform for students to get real-life experience in the journalism world.

Together, they produce a weekly 30-minute live show.

From shooting to writing and producing, these students truly do it all.

Last fall, the program provided extensive coverage for the longest government shutdown in history as well as other stories. That coverage acquired them one of the most prestigious awards in the journalism field: the Edward R. Murrow Award.

This historic achievement marks the very first Murrow for the program.

Students and instructors say that it feels amazing to be recognized for all of the hard work that they put into the show.
