At least 11,000 power banks recalled due to fire risk after 600+ incident reports
About 11,000 power banks sold on Amazon have been recalled after hundreds of reports of fires and other incidents, federal officials say.
The HAIARA power banks, model W5 PRO, were sold on the platform by Mitrytech. They have “20W” printed on the front and the model number on the side. The warning is applicable to power banks with no date code (printed as YYYYMMDD) on the side.
Mitrytech learned of at least 600 reports of fire and other incidents, including three burn injury reports and nine property damage reports.
The power banks, manufactured in China, were sold on Amazon for prices ranging from $18 to $22 from May 2025 through September 2026.
Consumers should stop using the recalled power banks right away. Those who purchased their power banks on Amazon.com from Mitrytech should contact Mitrytech for instructions on how to receive a full refund.
To receive a refund, consumers will be required to submit a photo of their recalled power bank with the word “recalled” written on it in permanent marker and confirm disposal of the power bank in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
