SANTA CLARITA, Calif. (KABC) -- Four people were arrested on arson and conspiracy charges as part of an ongoing investigation into a devastating fire that caused an estimated $13 million in property damage in Santa Clarita, authorities said.

According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, detectives from the Arson/Explosives Detail responded at about 3 a.m. on Aug. 24, to the 24000 block of Main Street in Newhall to investigate a significant structure fire. The fire involved seven structures and resulted in approximately $13 million in property damage.

The Sheriff's Department said the investigation has remained a top priority for both the L.A. County Sheriff's Department and the L.A. County District Attorney's Office since the incident occurred. The City of Santa Clarita and the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors have also provided support and resources for the investigation.

As part of the investigation, detectives served search warrants at four locations throughout Los Angeles County on Wednesday, resulting in several arrests connected to the fire.

Those arrested were identified as:

- John Wright, 47, of Canyon Country
- Cristian Leija, 43, of El Monte

Since the day of the fire, they have worked tirelessly to uncover the facts and pursue every investigative lead. Today's developments are a testament to their hard work and commitment to holding those responsible accountable," Royster said.

The Sheriff's Department said the fire had a significant impact on affected property owners, local businesses and the surrounding Santa Clarita community. Authorities said they remain committed to conducting a thorough investigation, pursuing all available leads and working with community partners to determine the cause and circumstances surrounding the incident.
