LETTER: Brightline West remains a puzzle

The Brightline Rail project continues to be a puzzle (Monday Review-Journal). It makes no economic sense to spend $100 million per mile to build a train line between Vegas and Southern California. And that’s just the current estimate. Other rail projects have routinely gone way over-budget — you can bet this one will, too.

No work has been done on it for several months pending approval of a massive federal loan. These “loans” usually end up not being repaid. No one ever steps in on behalf of us taxpayers to stop these boondoggles.

What a waste of taxpayer money. For that price, can you imagine widening of Interstate 15 all the way to SoCal? And it could carry more than just passengers.
