Near-record warmth for Charlotte to finish the week: Latest forecast
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - The last week of October has been dry and unusually warm, and we’re finishing the week with record-threatening high temperatures.
Unseasonably warm
Friday’s temperatures started off comfortably cool, in the 40s and 50s. A rapid warmup will send highs into the low 80s by afternoon, just short of the daily record of 84 degrees.
Calm Halloween weekend
More clouds and cooler temperatures are in store for Halloween weekend. Highs on Saturday will top out around 70 degrees, much closer to average for late October.
The trick-or-treat forecast looks good, with dry conditions and temperatures in the 60s throughout the evening.
Cooler temperatures remain in the forecast Sunday and Monday, but the rain chances have essentially disappeared. Measurable rain is unlikely, just a few sprinkles here and there.
First Alert: Pattern shift next week
The long-range data points to an unsettled pattern setting up later next week and farther into November.
The first round of rain should arrive Wednesday into Thursday, bringing with it the threat of scattered thunderstorms. That storm system looks much more impressive, so our confidence is higher that the rain will hold together as it approaches.
Forecast at a glance
- Friday: Plenty of sunshine, very warm
- Weekend: More clouds, cooler
- Monday: Still cool
