Man dies after holding Imo’s workers hostage, exchanging gunfire with police

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - One person has died after he held employees at gunpoint Thursday night at an Imo’s in Bridgeton.

Police say the incident happened shortly after 9 p.m. at the Imo’s Pizza in the 11900 block of St. Charles Rock Road. The man was a former employee, although police say his motive was unclear. He held employees in the establishment at gunpoint, and customers outside the building alerted the police. The man exchanged gunfire with police, and he died. No one else was injured.

Police spokesperson Vera Clay says police were told that the man worked there several years ago. She said the investigation is still active and police are working to learn more.

This is developing news and will be updated as First Alert 4 learns more about the situation.
