Motorcyclist killed in I-77 crash that shut down lanes for hours in Iredell County
MOORESVILLE, N.C. (WBTV) - A motorcyclist was killed on Thursday morning following an I-77 crash that shut down lanes for hours in Iredell County.
Officials identified the victim as 35-year-old Jeffery Robertson, who died at the scene.
What happened
The deadly wreck happened around 6:10 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 29, along I-77 near Langtree Road in Mooresville.
Troopers said Robertson was riding a cruiser-style Kawasaki when an apparent tire failure caused him to lose control and flip in the southbound toll lane. After crashing, he was thrown from his motorcycle and struck by an oncoming SUV, while a tractor-trailer hit the bike.
