Port Orchard residents warned of upcoming nine-hour power outage

Puget Sound Energy has scheduled a planned power outage in Port Orchard for this Sunday, Nov. 1. The service disruption is expected to last from 8 p.m. until 5 a.m.

South Kitsap Fire and Rescue (SKFR) issued an advisory urging residents in the impacted area to prepare for the overnight loss of electricity. Fire officials provided several safety guidelines to help households navigate the outage safely.

SKFR advised residents to fully charge their cell phones prior to the outage and keep flashlights accessible while avoiding the use of candles. For individuals who rely on medical equipment that requires electricity, fire officials recommended establishing a plan to maintain equipment operation throughout the disruption. Drivers were also reminded that any unlit traffic signals should be treated as four-way stops.
