Rapper Rick Ross will have to wait another week to learn whether prosecutors will formally file criminal charges against him in connection with an alleged domestic violence incident at his Star Island home.

Ross, whose legal name is William Roberts II, was arrested earlier this month after authorities accused him of beating, strangling and slamming his girlfriend during an incident that allegedly occurred in August.

According to records, Ross questioned the woman about whether she had lied to him before allegedly hitting her.

Ross was scheduled to be arraigned Thursday, but prosecutors said they need more time to determine whether they would formally file charges. The case was reset for Oct. 30.

His defense attorney, Brad Horenstein, maintained Ross' innocence following the hearing and said the delay showed prosecutors were carefully examining the allegations.

“Mr. Ross is innocent,” Horenstein said. “There are serious doubts about this case. These are fabrications. We asked you to hold your judgment and wait because the truth will come out.”

Horenstein added that he believed what happened in court Thursday was “very telling.”

In an unrelated incident, a man was arrested last week in Daytona Beach after allegedly striking Ross' son with a gun.

Ross' attorney declined Thursday to comment on the incident involving the rapper's son.

Editor's Note: A previous version of this article reported that prosecutors requested 30 more days to decide on the domestic violence case. It has been corrected to prosecutors seeking more days with the case being reset for Oct. 30.
