HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Some Katy-area residents are being told to shelter in place after a gas main break on Friday morning.
According to Harris County emergency officials, the gas main break happened in the area of Morton Ranch Road and Bridge Lake Boulevard, prompting the shelter-in-place for nearby residents and businesses and a roadway closure.
Residents within a half-mile radius of the intersection are asked to stay indoors, close their windows and doors, and remain sheltered until emergency officials issue an all-clear.
Drivers are being asked to avoid the area and find an alternate route.
It's unclear how long the shelter-in-place or road closure will remain in effect.
