Surveillance video captures screams, apparent gunfire at Hialeah apartment complex
Surveillance video captured screams and what sounds like gunfire during a possible double shooting at a Hialeah apartment complex.
Hialeah Fire Rescue and police later flooded the complex along West 22nd Court and 61st Street.
Cameras captured how a patient on a stretcher was loaded into a helicopter before it took off. NBC6 crews also saw crime scene tape on the second floor of the building, as officers walked around and focused on a corner unit.
A woman at the scene who declined to provide her name said her husband was shot, and that he’s recovering in a hospital. She did not want to provide additional details about the circumstances surrounding the possible gunfire.
The Hialeah Police Department has not replied to repeated requests for information.
Neighbor Lianet Marin said she knows the people who live in that apartment, and said she saw a group gathered there last night.
“They all seemed drunk and like they were having some kind of party,” she said. “I came downstairs but when I came back, they were arguing, even pushing inside the apartment.”
Another neighbor said he saw the aftermath.
“A couple of guys coming out all bloody. And then I asked a cop, they’re like, yeah, a couple of people got shot,” he said. “I was outside the whole time because I’m a concerned resident. You know, this is too close for comfort.”
Neighbor Walter Pena said he found the news “shocking, because we’ve never had any problems here, not even on this block.”
NBC6 is waiting to hear back from Hialeah police about how many people were injured, what led to the possible shooting, and whether anyone is in custody.
