‘Trash Island': Trump rails against DC's East Potomac Park in overnight post

President Donald Trump slammed the golf course in D.C.’s East Potomac Park and said in an overnight photo dump on Truth Social that his administration should be allowed to turn the “broken” course on “Trash Island” into one of the world’s best.

“Our Plan, developed to the Highest Levels and Standards of Golf, will turn Trash Island into an Island of Beauty and Success! It will be one of the Most Wonderful and Spectacular Golf Courses anywhere in the World,” Trump said in one of two posts.

A judge’s temporary restraining order to stop tree cutting in the park remains in effect until next week. Crews have already cut down more than 400 trees.

Trump wants to create a championship-style golf course that would stretch from seawall to seawall, covering the entire peninsula. It would replace the current 18-hole and 9-hole courses, the mini golf course and the perimeter road used by cyclists, runners and walkers.

East Potomac Park was created by an act of Congress in the late 1800s and later codified into D.C. law “to be forever held and used as a park for the recreation and pleasure of the people.”
