The work is part of the ongoing $206 million Interstate 285 Westside Rebuild concrete slab reconstruction project.

The project currently underway spans the Interstate 285 corridor from State Route 14/South Fulton Parkway in College Park to Collier Road in Atlanta.

Crews will mill and grind roadway concrete to prepare for repairing and replacing concrete slabs across the project area.

TRENDING STORIES:

Northbound lane closures on Interstate 285 will involve alternating closures of two right lanes or two left lanes between State Route 139/Martin Luther King Jr. Drive at Exit 9 and State Route 166/Langford Parkway at Exit 5. Drivers traveling northbound will also encounter roadside signage directing traffic lane shifts through the area.

Southbound lane closures will alternate between two left lanes or two right lanes from Camp Creek Parkway at Exit 2 to State Route 139/Martin Luther King Jr. Drive at Exit 9. Drivers moving southbound will similarly follow posted traffic lane shifts.

The Georgia Department of Transportation advised motorists using this section of highway to allow additional travel time or plan alternate routes. The agency recommended drivers consult the 511GA mobile application for real-time traffic updates and closure details.

The overall reconstruction project is one of two initiatives along the westside Interstate 285 corridor designed to repair and replace aging concrete slabs. Scheduled for completion in 2029, the lane closures provide safety clearance for construction crews and large equipment.

A full closure of all northbound and southbound lanes on Interstate 285 between State Route 166/Langford Parkway at Exit 5 and Camp Creek Parkway at Exit 2 is tentatively scheduled from Nov. 6 to Nov. 9, weather permitting. No traffic will be permitted on that segment of the interstate during the full closure and all vehicles will be detoured around the work zone.
