Deputies followed and safely took Betts into custody. During the incident, deputies said Betts had gone back inside to hide methamphetamine he had in his possession.
In the process, he threw a small bag containing the suspected drug into a child’s bedroom, according to the sheriff’s office.
Deputies said they found the suspected methamphetamine before it could end up in a child’s hands.
Betts remains in the Jones County Jail, charged with violation of probation and possession of methamphetamine.
