Today on Texas Eats NOW:

TEXAS EATS HALLOWEEN | TRICK OR TREAT
With Halloween right around the corner, the price of candy has steadily risen and is now more expensive than ever. This year, the Texas Eats team wanted to see which bag of candy gives consumers the best bang for their buck, so David Elder went out and bought $230 of candy bags to try them out.
The team found that any bags with chocolate candy were much higher in price than any bags without chocolate, so you’re going to get less bang for your buck that way. The steal of the season is the Haribo bag as it’s dense with gummy bears and only costs $14.99.

TEXAS EATS HALLOWEEN | DEJA VU ESOTERICA
1236 S St. Mary’s St, San Antonio, TX 78210
Deja Vu Esoterica is a shop built around handmade goods and in-house readings. Much of what lines the shelves are made on site, starting with the room sprays that launched the business.
The shop pours its own candles, with options like romance, vanishing and reversal, Aphrodite, and an ancestral veneration candle suited to Day of the Dead. The readings they provide include tarot, astrology, a medium who works with departed relatives, and more. Appointments are available, and walk-ins are welcome anytime.

SAN ANTONIO AUTO & TRUCK SHOW

The San Antonio Auto & Truck Show returns November 6-8 at a new venue, the Freeman Coliseum Expo Hall, with free parking on site. Billed as the largest showroom in South Texas, the show fills the hall with cars, trucks and SUVs, including the latest 2027 models.
This year’s exotic focus is Lamborghini, and the lineup includes the Aventador S in both chrome and matte black, a Gallardo and two Huracans. Food trucks are new to the show this year, with tacos and coffee on hand. Tickets and exhibit details are available at saautoshow.com.

Owl Creek Farm in West San Antonio offers family-friendly fall activities during the day before transforming into Nightmare at Owl Creek, an outdoor Halloween attraction featuring haunted trails, spooky mazes, and terrifying encounters after dark. The farm’s daytime activities include a seasonal pumpkin patch, petting zoo, pony rides, hayrides, bounce houses, and play areas where families can interact with goats, sheep, horses, pigs, and other farm animals. At night, visitors can explore six themed attractions, including the creepy Haunted Doll Trail, the wooded Dark End Woods Maze, the carnival-inspired Freak Show, and the winding Barn Maze. Guests looking for milder scares can try the Cowboy Trail or the extraterrestrial-themed Contact Zone, both designed with younger visitors in mind. With a mix of daytime autumn fun and nighttime frights, Owl Creek Farm offers two different ways to celebrate Halloween in San Antonio.
