Flash flood warning issued for southeast Las Vegas Valley
Portions of Las Vegas were hit with waves of showers, thunderstorms and even hail Friday, resulting in a flash flood warning for the southeast valley.
The National Weather Service Las Vegas office issued the flash flood warning until 3:45 p.m. across eastern Henderson and Lake Las Vegas, where rainfall hit 0.50 inches in a 30-minute span just after noon.
Chris Outler, meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Las Vegas, said more than three quarters of an inch of rain had fallen in the Henderson area. Pea-sized hail was also reported. Heavy rain was also falling in downtown Las Vegas.
“We are keeping an eye on it,” Outler said. “If it keeps raining hard enough we could see some greater impacts. We are going to have to wait and see how things unfold.”
Outler said the public should “stay alert and if you do encounter flood waters turn around.”
🚨 Heads up! The flood advisory has been upgraded to a Flash Flood Warning for the Cadence and old Henderson areas! Over 1 inch of rain has fallen in parts of the area since noon. #nvwx https://t.co/4mlXZkz3Be
