Crash landing of small plane injures 1 on Kauai
Kauai firefighters this morning responded to an emergency plane landing in Waimea.
Shortly before 9 a.m., the Kauai Fire Department got a 911 call for a small, single-engine aircraft that made an emergency landing with five people on board, according to initial reports.
KFD said one person sustained injuries, while the other four were not hurt.
Responding crews included personnel from the Waimea and Hanapepe fire stations, American Medical Response, Lihue Airport Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting and the Kauai Police Department.
Rescuers extricated the injured passenger from the plane and carried the person out by litter.
The public should avoid the area while first responders are on scene.
