Sheriff’s office checks on registered sex offenders to ensure they haven’t dropped off radar

The law requires registered sex offenders to keep authorities current on where they reside. But how many are where they are supposed to be?

Channel 2 investigative reporter Mark Winne accompanied deputies with the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office to check in on sex offenders.

Of the 457 offenders Fulton County checked on through Thursday, 67 were charged with not being in compliance, Fulton County Sheriff’s Major Ophee Hinton said.
