FARMINGTON — For most people, Halloween means carving a pumpkin or two. But for Ken Klinker, it's a hobby he's spent the last 30 years turning into a much bigger tradition.
Klinker fills his Farmington front yard with carved pumpkins, creating a display unlike the typical Halloween decorations.
"It's kind of a unique thing. Most displays have a lot of ghouls and gravestones and things like that, and I think this is the only one that I've seen that is all made out of pumpkins," Klinker said.
The pumpkins are made of foam, allowing Klinker to save them and reuse them year after year.
While he enjoys the carving process, Klinker said one of the best parts is seeing the community come out to enjoy his work.
"It's fun to do the carving, but it's really fun to set it up and have all the kids, the neighbors and strangers come by and look at it," he said.
This year, Klinker's display is part of a Farmington pumpkin tour featuring about 15 participating homes. Visitors can travel between displays and vote for their favorites.
Klinker's display is located at 1288 Cannon Drive in Farmington. Those stopping by are also encouraged to bring canned food donations for the Bountiful Food Pantry.
