The ballot also includes school board races in several districts, with voters choosing trustees to represent their communities.
Voters will also decide whether to extend funding for Pre-K 4 SA for another 20 years. Proposition A on the Nov. 3 ballot would reauthorize the existing one-eighth-cent sales tax funding the program without increasing the tax rate.
Voter-Approved Tax Rate Elections
Voters in several school districts are deciding whether to approve proposed tax rates through Voter-Approved Tax Rate Elections (VATREs).
The elections include:
- East Central ISD
- Northside ISD
- San Antonio ISD
- Schertz-Cibolo-Universal City ISD
- South San Antonio ISD
- Nixon-Smiley CISD
- Seguin ISD
- Poth ISD
- Crystal City ISD
A VATRE gives voters a say in whether a school district can adopt a proposed tax rate that generates additional revenue for its operations. The results will determine whether each district can move forward with its proposed rate.
School bond elections
Several school districts are asking voters to approve bond proposals totaling millions of dollars. The measures include funding for school facilities, instructional technology and other district needs.
The larger proposals include:
- Comal ISD: $567 million
- Northside ISD: $886 million
- San Antonio ISD: $600 million
- Karnes City ISD: $128 million
- Falls City ISD: $11 million
- Stockdale ISD: $3 million
