VIDEO: Domestic violence suspect arrested after allegedly ramming 2 police vehicles in Seattle
A 26-year-old man wanted in connection with domestic violence cases in Renton, Tukwila, and Seattle was arrested in downtown Seattle on Thursday, Meeghan Black, communications manager for the Renton Police Department.
Renton police were actively searching for the man, who they said has a long history of domestic violence, on allegations including illegal firearm possession, stalking, assault, domestic-violence assault, and violating a no-contact order.
He has been charged in a Seattle case, while charges in Renton are pending.
“This 26-year-old is accused of stalking his partner, and in a Seattle case, shooting up her car,” Black said.
During the arrest attempt, as police moved in, authorities said the man allegedly moved from the back seat of his vehicle to the front and tried to escape, ramming two police vehicles.
He then ran from the car, Black said. Officers caught him without injuries.
“This just goes to show you how violent these domestic violence cases are and can be,” Black said.
The man is being held at the King County Jail on $1 million bail.
Black said the Renton police department takes domestic-violence cases seriously.
“We throw all of the resources we can at bringing these suspects into custody,” she added.
