Football, Fútbol, Food: Epic college football weekend is coming
NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - In this edition of FFF: Looking forward to a sofa Saturday of college football, Saints safety Justin Reid impressed with French football club, and the Pincus brothers continue investing in New Orleans.
FOOTBALL
Here’s your one week warning about the biggest day in college football this season.
Next Saturday, November 7, get ready to strap in for 14 hours of college football on your sofa.
Starting at 11 a.m., you got the “Holy War” between Utah and BYU. Texas at Missouri and UCLA at Minnesota also intriguing at 11.
At 2:30, it’s Alabama-LSU, Oregon-Ohio State.
Then starting after 5 p.m. it’s Kentucky-Tennessee, Notre Dame-Miami, Georgia-Ole Miss, and Oklahoma-Florida. Like I said, it’s appointment viewing.
So get those chores done ahead time, your only job next Saturday is to watch ball.
FÚTBOL
The New Orleans Saints did more than play a game this past Sunday in France. They spent the entire week seeing everything Paris, and one thing seemed to standout more than other excursions.
Alvin Kamara, Justin Reid, Tyler Shough and a few other Saints checked out Paris Saint-Germain play Barcelona on Tuesday night. This was one of the biggest soccer matchups of the season.
The Champions League matchup ended with PSG taking the win, 4-2. Tickets were close to a 1,000 Euros to start, so yours truly didn’t get to watch it in-person.
But Reid did, and he was mesmerized by not on the quality of play, but the energy in the stadium. After the game, he was already talking about going again very soon.
Well guess what Justin, the Caesars Superdome can be that way too once again. Winning can bring that place alive again.
PSG has won the championship of Europe two years in a row, they win the French league title almost every season.
That’s why the Parc des Princes is electric. Now if the Saints win, crazy atmospheres will return to the Dome.
FOOD
The Pincus brothers built a restaurant empire in New York City, and now they have their sights set on their hometown of New Orleans.
Alex Pincus graduated from Metairie Park Country Day, and Miles Pincus went to school on St. Charles Avenue at De La Salle.
The brothers grew up in the French Quarter. They recently opened Holywater in their old stomping grounds in the Quarter. They also own Seaworthy.
Their company is called Crew. In New York, they own restaurant spots: Grand Banks, The Yacht Club, Holywater, High Tide, Montero, Drift In, and Fireboat. Most of these spots are on the waterfronts of New York.
I’ve been to Holywater recently, and I’m going again this Halloween weekend. Yeah, the place is that good. The oyster bar downstairs, and the restaurant upstairs on Conti possess a ton of New Orleans decor. The food is superb and the atmosphere is laid-back, cool.
