MIDDLE TWP., N.J. (WPVI) -- A former South Jersey teacher accused of having a child with a student has pleaded guilty to charges filed against her.
Laura Caron, 36, worked as a fifth-grade teacher at Middle Township Elementary School for more than a decade.
She was charged on Jan. 15, 2025, after investigators alleged she sexually assaulted a victim between 2016 and 2020, beginning when the child was 11 years old.
According to authorities, Caron and the victim had a daughter together. Investigators said the child was born in 2019, when the victim was 13 years old.

The allegations came to light after the victim's father posted on social media in December 2024, claiming Caron's then-5-year-old child closely resembled him and his son, according to investigators.

Laura Caron, 34, of Cape May Court House, was arrested on Wednesday on charges of aggravated sexual assault, sexual assault, and endangering the welfare of a child.
On Wednesday, Caron pleaded guilty to second degree endangering the welfare of a child with sexual conduct
The guilty plea includes a 5-year sentence in New Jersey State Prison, along with forfeiting her teaching license and all future public employment.
The Cape May County Prosecutor's Office said Caron must first undergo an evaluation at the Adult Diagnostic and Treatment Center. The assessment will determine whether she is classified as repetitive and/or compulsive, a designation that could impact her sentence.
Following her prison term, Caron will be required to register under Megan's Law and will be subject to lifetime parole supervision.
Caron is scheduled to be sentenced on Jan. 8, 2027.
