Friday Football Fever Week 11: Munford claims Region 8-5A title with Game of the Week win and more

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) -The final weekend of October means the playoffs are right around the corner in high school football, and the stakes are high for teams across the Mid-South.

That was on display in our Game of the Week, a battle for the Region 8-5A championship at Crump Stadium between a pair of 8-1 teams in Central and Munford.

Last year, the Warriors went to Munford and beat the Cougars in the regular season finale to claim the region crown. In 2026, Munford flips the script. The Cougars prevail over Central 41-21 to win the region title and earn an all important #1 seed in the 5A playoffs.

Other games featured include:

• Southwind pulling out a late 20-17 victory over Germantown to win their second straight Region 8-6A championship
• Whitehaven shutting out White Station 30-0
• Lausanne finishing off a perfect slate in the Division-II AA West division with a 48-14 road win at Northpoint
• Desoto Central dominating the second half to pick up a critical 39-14 triumph over Hernando
• MASE beating Fairley 20-0 to win the Region 8 2A title
