1 dead, 1 seriously injured after 4-vehicle crash in Washington County

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Mo. (First Alert 4) - A man is dead and a woman is seriously injured after a multi-vehicle crash Friday evening in Washington County.

The situation took place around 5:30 p.m. on northbound Missouri Route 185 north of Hamilton Hollow Road. Four vehicles were involved in the crash.

According to Missouri State Highway Patrol, the first vehicle, a Jeep Liberty, was driving southbound and a second vehicle, a Ram pickup truck, was driving northbound on Route 185. The Ram was behind a third vehicle, a Volvo, and attempted to pass it using the southbound lane.

The Ram struck the front of the Jeep, causing both vehicles to rotate. The Jeep then went off one side of the road and the Ram went off the other. The Volvo hit debris from the crash and began to slow down. Then another vehicle, a Chevrolet pickup truck, did not react to the Volvo slowing down and hit the back of it.

The 60-year-old man who was driving the Jeep died. His passenger, a 30-year-old woman, was seriously injured and taken to the hospital.

The 31-year-old man driving the Ram was moderately injured, and his passenger, a 7-year-old girl, sustained minor injuries.

The 56-year-old woman driving the Volvo and the 18-year-old man driving the Chevrolet did not report any injuries.
