Man shot, killed while riding bike in Houston's Third Ward, HPD says

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- A man was shot and killed while riding a bike in Houston's Third Ward on Friday night, police said.

The Houston Police Department said the victim was riding his bike in the 2900 block of Callie Street at around 11:40 p.m. when two men in hoodies came up and started shooting him.

Officers said the victim was shot five times and taken to a hospital, where he later died.

The suspects fled the scene, police said.

Investigators said witnesses saw and heard the shooting.

The victim has only been identified as a 40-year-old man, HPD said.
