MPD officer hurt in crash on I-55, police say

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - A Memphis police officer suffered minor injuries Friday night after a three-vehicle crash on Interstate 55.

Police said a truck traveling southbound on I -55 near Mallory Avenue struck the parked patrol SUV, which had its emergency lights activated while the officer handled an earlier crash. The truck then collided with a semi-trailer.

The officer was taken to Methodist University Hospital in non-critical condition.

Investigators issued no citations after determining the truck driver’s view was obstructed around a curve, and no early warning signs were in place.
